Full Metal Jacket

Full Metal Jacket
(c) 1987
Directed and Screenplay written by Stanley Kubrick:

When it comes to movies about the Vietnam War, Full Metal Jacket is definitely one of the most memorable and intense of them all.
Following the military career of Private Joker (Matthew Modine) from boot camp to deployment, Full Metal Jacket delivers a story that hits the audience at almost every level. From the intense yet hilarious and often quoted verbal abuse of Gunnery Sgt. Hartman (R. Lee Ermey), his murder, and the suicide of Pvt. Pyle (Vincent D'Onofrio) to the futile reality of the war in general, Joker must cope with loss and himself. This film more than any other movie about the Vietnam War brings the humanity out of the characters and leaves the viewer in suspense and shock like no other.

There are so many great scenes to this movie that it's nearly overwhelming. It has been etched into American Pop Culture and is considered by many to be one of Kubrick's masterpieces of film.
