The Good Shepherd

The life and times of uber-spy and PROFESSIONAL PARANOID PSYCHOTIC James Jesus Angleton, "Mother" of the CIA and The Man Who Never Slept. Starring Matt Damon and directed by Robert DeNiro. Terrible story-telling… so many flashbacks and flash-forwards any narrative threads are hard to pick up. If DeNiro had decided on a more linear story-telling approach, this would have been a decent movie. It's a GOOD story, too. The most intriguing part of the true Angleton story, about British KGB mole Kim Philby, is relegated to the sidelines, with the Bay of Pigs fiasco set as the centerpiece. Damon is flatter than usual and even John Torturro is wasted.
