Holiday Eggnog

How can you have the holidays (which ever holiday you celebrate, be it Christmas or Hanukkah or Saturnalia or even Secular Retail Holiday) without eggnog? Eggnog is associated primarily with Christmas, but this is a "holiday eggnog" and not just a "Christmas eggnog" because it can be enjoyed on any holiday. Why limit it to Christmas (or Eid or Hanukkah or Yule)? By making your own, you can enjoy eggnog at any time of the year!

In a large bowl, thoroughly beat the eggs using a mixer (a hand mixer will do, though some folks prefer electric). Add the milk and cream, and mix. Add the sugar, and mix more until it is completely absorbed. Continue beating until the mixture thickens slightly. Add alcohol, vanilla and nutmeg. Continue mixing until the specks of nutmeg are nearly gone, to flavor evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled (at least three hours). The final result is about 1 1/2 quarts of eggnog. Needless to say, you can increase the amounts to produce more for parties and celebrations.
