Lawrence (Larry) Wayne Fischer, a/k/a Wild Man Fischer is a musician who in the 1960s would sing songs on the street for a dime; he was discovered by Solomon Burke who gave him his name and Frank Zappa who gave him his first record deal, for An Evening With Wild Man Fischer, a double album put out on Zappa's Bizarre label. The album only sold 12,000 copies, and Larry quit the music business, as he would do several times; he'd had a falling out of Zappa, due to one of his rages (Larry's a manic-depressive paranoid schizophrenic) and threw a glass at Moon's head when she was still a baby.

During this town time, Larry went through many odd jobs, like unloading trucks or selling pens over the phone, but he'd still sometimes perform. At one time, Phil Spector contacted him after seeing him play at a club, although changed his mind on recording him when he'd heard Larry's demos.

In the late 1970s, Rhino Records put out their first single ("Go To Rhino Records") and their first LP (Wildmania), both of which were Wild Man Fischer releases. Soon afterwards, Barnes and Barnes produced two albums for Larry, but as always, there were problems with Larry and the releasing, and none of the albums sold nearly as well as the Bizarre album.

He's currently living in an assisted-living facility and is on medication, although since being on medication, he hasn't had the urge to record or sing, which is too bad, as he really did have a talent for music.

He also worked with Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO and jazz singer Rosemary Clooney.
