The Day The Earth Stood Still

I watch this movie from time-to-time, and when I do I'm thinking the same thing Klaatu is probably thinking, "Golly, Humans are really screwed-up creatures!"

The hilarious parts of this great classic all come from the naive stupidity of the humans. Sure it's got a 8-foot tall look-at-me-funny-n-I'll-disintergrate-yer-ass robot in it, but Gort (the robot) keeps the movie in perspective.

Then there's Klaatu…If you hold a Dobbshead next to the guy playing Klaatu, you'd swear he was the guy all those $30 checks were going to.

So what's he doing here? Simple, to see if Earth is worth the dirt it's planted on. And man, if our rock was lucky just to meet the barest minimal in the 50's, Klaatu and Gort would fry asses today before they'd enter the atmosphere.

The Day The Earth Stood Still is a swell movie with an enduring and thoughtful message:

"HEY YOU WORTHLESS ASSHOLES, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER OR WE'LL FRY YOUR PATHETIC HIDES AND THE ROCK YOUR SHITTING ON!"

Sure it sounds more eloquent in Klaatu's speech, but it's still the same message.
