Eraserhead

Hard to believe this is an American film. It reeks of something that should have been concocted by a European Art House director, but was in fact brewed in the subconscious of one of America's most original people: David Lynch.

Accompanied by an industrial hum pretty much throughout, the story of Henry Spencer unfolds as his mind unfolds after getting his girlfriend Mary X pregnant. The resulting baby, a product no doubt of the film's polluted environment, is a monster that aids and abets Henry's madness.

One good thing that really makes this film special is that I've seen it drive people out of the cinema.
