Cult of the Dead Cow

Difference (from prior minor revision)

Changed: 2c2

< Probably one of the longest-lived hacker groups, the cDc has been around since 1984. They're probably best known for the ''Back Orifice'' program, which they released in 1998. Back Orifice was designed to take advantage of weaknesses in Microsoft Windows to allow a person to remotely control a Microsoft Windows PC with a network connection, in a manner similar to PC Anywhere. This was one of several major hacker incidents (which were usually described as "attacks") that helped to make the public aware that Microsoft Windows was not (and still is not) invincible.
