Shocking Videos

Difference (from prior minor revision)

Changed: 12c12

< Shocking Videos has supplied thousands of videos to obsessive movie fans over the years. And the really amazing part is this: it's entirely managed by ''one guy!'' Mark "Remote Control" Johnston (one of the contributors to ''[[High Weirdness by Mail]]'') is the genius behind this operation, and he stands behind his reputation. If you order from this guy, you ''will'' get what you want from him. Furthermore, if you participate in the newsgroup ''alt.cult-movies,'' you're likely to run into Mark (along with other cult movie fan groups). In the mid-1980s, when Reaganism was at its height and Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, and Charles Bronson ruled the box office, I heard a news story about an action movie made in the Soviet Union. Apparently it was as blatantly propagandistic and anti-American as Rambo was anti-Commie, and it featured a big sweaty action hero who blew up an American military base. Anyone have any details about this movie?

Mark sent me an email reply – entirely unsolicited! – pinpointing the exact movie I was looking for. (It's a 1985 Soviet movie called Solo Voyage, and you can read a whacked-out review at its Internet Movie Database entry.)
