He failed. This afternoon I went to the parliament with the NOTs. Not 349 copies as I said I'd do, just one. The parliament is copying. In the parliament I met the chief of security. He said it is the first time they have ever had a theft of documents. It seems to be an insider job and he was rather preoccupied. The theft has been reported to the police. I also learned that at some point today, the CoS lawyers had the incredible nerve to go to the parliament and demand that the NOTs be kept secret. In other words: the representatives of the thieves went to the bestolen to ask the bestolen to round-up the work of the thieves. If that is not fresh, I don't know what is. I wonder what they pay them, so that they humiliate themselves in such a way. Needless to say, they were very politely shown to the door. I learned that the car that was parked in the corner yesterday was replaced by another, which in turn was replaced by a third one, all with guys sitting in them. Then the guys left the last car, maybe to have a coffee. Then somebody smashed the side window of it and police arrived. There were binoculars in the car, and notes of car registration plates and of people coming and leaving. There had also been a camera in the car, that maybe was stolen and maybe not. I couldn't get any information from the police, their computers were down. I was told that the guys in the last car had guns by someone that saw them. Police are practically the only ones that carry guns, at least visibly. I imagine that criminals and PIs, even if they have guns, would keep them out of sight. Somebody who should know placed this whole thing in conjunction with a recent big hash seizure, saying that one of the suspects in it lives on my block. Thus, the surveillance could be unconnected to me. It's hard to know. It still could be PIs, and the affair could indicate that I have an unkown friend with a sledgehammer. I'll call the police tomorrow and ask them. I found my disappeared copy of file attachement 37. I had actually misplaced it. The CoS is hereby cleared from the suspicion of having stolen it, at least so far. Now the bad news. The bailiff pronounced a decision today saying that the matter of whether the OTs and NOTs have been made public or not is not for her to solve, that it is impossible to know what's on my disks and that in the dilemma of giving the OTs and NOTs back to me or keeping material that is obviously not included in the courts' seizure decision, she chooses the latter. A very cowardy decision I must say, but there it is. I'll be appealing it tomorrow. Z --- oracle@everywhere: The ephemeral source of the eternal truth...
